Since its inception, 11 years ago, VHS Choir has excelled. Competing with top choirs, not only within our district, but with top choirs in Texas, VHS has received the highest accolades and recognition. The VHS Chorale Women’s Choir was an invited choir to the National ACDA in March 2019. NACDA is an annual conference hosting thousands of directors, composers and music educators from across the country. In March of 2018, the VHS Chamber Choir was awarded 3rd place at the prestigious Madrigal Festival in San Antonio. The top choirs throughout the state of Texas compete at Madrigal Festival, and Vandegrift High School is very proud of this outstanding achievement. These recognitions are significant accomplishments for our students, Choir Directors and Vandegrift High School as a whole, and in line with the VHS motto, “Second to None” and standard of excellence. A $1000 donation covers one Viper Choir Booster College Scholarship awarded at the end of the year to a Senior Choir Student. The Viper Booster Club awards two scholarships per year. A $1000 donation helps cover the cost of our annual Back to School Boat Party on Lake Travis!
A $500 donation helps cover a venue rental for one choir concert. Venues includes Austin Baptist Church, Hope Presbyterian Church and the University Presbyterian Church near the UT campus.
A $250 donation helps cover the cost of student social events, such as Girls Night and Guys Night, where students let loose, have fun, eat and bond.
A $100 donation buys one month of snacks for choir students participating in after school sectionals and rehearsals.
A $50 donation covers the cost of our Bigs & Littles Pancake Breakfast. This event is the kickoff of our Bigs & Littles mentor program, which helps new students get to know their fellow choir students and Choir Directors. A $50 donation helps cover the cost of our Homecoming Parade trailer rental, candy and decorations.
A $35 donation covers seven pre-performance meals for one choir student.
